Profile

Joshua Lawrenz, MD joined the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Institute as an orthopaedic oncologist in 2020. His clinical interests include limb salvage surgery for pelvic and extremity soft tissue and bone sarcomas. His overarching research interests are aimed to improve oncologic, functional and patient reported outcomes for his patients. Specific interests include studying the use of neoadjuvant hypofractionated radiation in soft tissue sarcoma, advanced techniques in extremity sarcoma pain management, and utilizing machine learning to better diagnose soft tissue tumors.

Dr. Lawrenz received his BS in Kinesiology/Applied Health Science from Wheaton College in 2010, and MD from University of Illinois College of Medicine in 2014. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic in 2019, and his fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2020.
