Profile
As Director of Nuclear Imaging in the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science, I have overseen all research efforts involving in vivo small-animal PET, SPECT, and CT imaging at Vanderbilt University since 2003. With the 2018 installation of a Philips Vereos TOF-PET/CT system dedicated to research within VUIIS, I have assumed responsibility for scientific oversight of that system as well. As of June 2019, I also serve as Director of the Radiochemistry Core, which provides custom radiotracers on a fee-for-service basis for both small-animal and human research studies. In addition to the many collaborative studies focused on the application of PET and SPECT imaging to several areas of research including neurology, cancer, cardiology, pharmacology, and diabetes; I have conducted research focused on improving quantitative PET imaging capabilities through the development of novel acquisition strategies and analysis methods. I also conduct independently funded research focused on the development of new instrumentation for high-resolution SPECT, with a current focus on dual-isotope brain imaging. For the proposed project I will work to ensure the availability of radiotracers and participate in the design, execution, and analysis of the proposed imaging studies.
