Meet the Research Advocates
Research advocates at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center support our research efforts in many ways and for many reasons. Our advocates are cancer survivors, caregivers, and community members who are committed to making a difference.
Cat Dunham
Cat was diagnosed with Stage 2A triple-negative breast cancer in 2022. After six months of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and surgery, she was declared cancer-free. Cat remains deeply grateful for the doctors, nurses, researchers, and administrators at VICC and appreciates the opportunity to give back to the community that saved her life. Cat joined the VICC Breast SPORE as a research advocate in 2024 to be a patient voice in groundbreaking research.
Cat is a retired US Air Force Intelligence Officer and Desert Storm Veteran. She currently serves as CEO of a defense contracting firm.
In addition to her research advocacy work with VICC, Cat is a Breast Cancer Recovery in Action (BRA) member.
